Experience with water level sensors shows that in some situations it is better to use a submersible sensor to determine the depth, and sometimes it is more convenient to measure the distance to the water surface.
Sometimes it is important for the user to understand the distance before the water level becomes dangerous, and sometimes it is important to understand the distance under water.
We have sensors for both tasks!
The submersible sensor is best used on an unprepared object, when there is nowhere to attach the sensor to measure the distance, as well as when the water is rough. It is not recommended to use it if there is a fast current, foreign objects in the water that can damage the wire, or the reservoir freezes over in winter.
The microwave distance sensor is convenient to use on bridges, dams and other structures. The sensor allows you to determine within 10 minutes the moment when the water level has become abnormal, how much remains until critical values. It is not "afraid" of dust, water foam, snow and ice. Since the sensor can be located at a distance of up to 50 meters from the water surface, protection from ice, animals, ships and floating debris is not required.

The sensor is a microwave rangefinder in a sealed module that measures the distance to the water surface (ice in winter) or the bottom if there is no water.
The sensor has high accuracy - no more than 4 centimeters when measuring the level up to 10 meters.
The sensor is resistant to contamination of the case, dust, snow, icing of the case (upper and side surfaces), works perfectly in any bad weather.
The operating temperature range, like all our sensors, is from -40 to 80 degrees.
The sensor can operate both as part of a two-level system (as a submersible sensor) and via an LPWAN radio channel.
The sensor is attached to any vertical or horizontal surface. Since the radiation "beam" is narrow, the wall on which the sensor is suspended will not interfere.
It is possible to attach the sensor to movable magnets, which reduces the requirements for the surface to a minimum - it may not be flat or parallel to the ground.
Protection against falling (tearing off from the mount) is provided, both physically - a safety cable can be attached to the sensor, and at the level of monitoring its position: the sensor has an inclinometer, and when the position (angle relative to the vertical) changes, you will see it.

Our sensor is used to monitor the water level in the underground collectors of Mosvodostok. During heavy rainfall, a very rapid increase in the water level is possible at certain points in the collector system, leading to flooding of the streets. Our sensor transmits data on the actual level in the collector at intervals of 10 minutes, which allows you to determine in time the places where teams need to be sent. This allows you to eliminate flooding in the shortest possible time and minimize possible damage.

The advantage of our sensor is that it can withstand harsh conditions in the collector without requiring maintenance and transmit data for several kilometers, virtually from underground.
The sensor is installed at the required point. It is designed to operate for 5 years. After switching on, the sensor begins to send periodic messages about the current water level.
